Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2020
One of the oldest competitions in the United States, the Scholastic Awards were founded in 1923. The Alliance mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Students’ submissions are blindly judged by leaders in the visual and literary arts. The submission is open to grades 7 – 12, age 13 years or older. Students across America submitted nearly 320,000 original works this year in 29 different categories of art and writing.
The Oklahoma Art Region, hosted by Oklahoma State University Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History, had 1155 submissions from 672 students and 89 schools across Oklahoma. There were 76 Gold Key Winners, 106 Silver Key Winners, and 156 Honorable Mention Winners.
On Feb. 29, 2020 an exhibition and ceremony was held for the Oklahoma Region Gold Key Winners, their families, and educators. Attached are photographs of the exhibition held at the Gardiner Gallery of Art located on the Oklahoma State University Campus and the award ceremony.
