Art History Major Sara Roberts at Smithsonian Instititution

sararoberts

Junior Art History major Sara Roberts has accepted a summer position at the Smithsonian Institution, funded by the prestigious Katzenberger Foundation Art History Internship Program. Sara will work at the National Museum of American History on a project entitled, "Examination and Identification of Media and Printing Techniques used in Illustrations from the Little Golden Books, 1942-1960." She will be working in the Museum's paper conservation laboratory to identify printing techniques, pigments, and other information about the production of these beloved children's books. This research will expand our scholarly understanding of these books, provide new catalogue information, and give the Museum a better understanding of how to preserve them.

OSU Art Students Exhibit Work at the Botanic Garden

studentsbotanic2

More than 60 Art students have work that is currently on display at the OSU Botanic Garden. Students enrolled in the 3-Dimensional Design courses have installed their final projects at the South Entrance to the Garden, just off of 6th Street, next to Cow Creek. Their assignment required them to construct a functional chair using very limited material and helped them learn about structure and woodworking. The exhibition will be on display through December 14th and is free and open to the public.

Our art students display their work on the walls of the Postal Plaza in downtown Stillwater. Students from the classes of Professors Liz Roth and Angie Piehl spent several days drawing on the walls of the post office. Just days after the opening the demolition began in preparation for the new OSU Museum of Art. Angie Piehl and a few students were interviewed for OSU's Ok State You Tube News Channel. To see more of the art work and the demolition project check out Professor Louise Siddon's Art Collection Blog.
