Passion Takes Shape in Graphic Design

Student workers at Oklahoma State University have great opportunities to excel, just ask graphic design senior, Moriah Hengst. Hengst, who joined the College of Arts and Sciences Outreach team in 2016, was able to jump in and add to her skill set and her portfolio in a short 12 months.

Sculpture I Class: Safe Place Memorial

Leslie Martin's Sculpture I students used wood to create structurally stable sculptures at least 5 feet in height.  Their work is now being exhibited at Orange Grove, area southeast of the library, from October 13th - 30th.

Olivia Huffstetter Awarded Distinguished Graduate Award

Olivia AHOlivia Huffstetter, MA student in Art History, was awarded the OSU Foundation Distinguished Graduate Fellowship from the Graduate College for the 2017-18 academic year.  This fellowship will provide $2,500 toward the awardee's educational expenses.

Spring 2017 Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal

Aaron Moses(Above) MA graduate Aaron Moses with his thesis advisor, Dr. Louise Siddons.

Aaron Moses, who received his MA in Art History from OSU in 2017, was selected to be a Spring 2017 Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal. Each recipient receives a $1,000 award and is recognized at commencement. Aaron wrote an MA thesis titled “Not Your Grandfather’s Horse: Automobiles Performing the Trickster in Modern and Contemporary Work by Artists from Plains Cultures.” Congratulations Aaron!


Student Awards and Honors, 2016-2017

Recent BFA studio art graduates Liz Dueck (lead teacher) and Scarlett Rock (assistant teacher) taught a summer art camp for children: “Around the World in 10 Days” at the new Stillwater Center for the Arts.

  • Kathryn Woodard, 2017 Studio Art BFA, was accepted into the UT-Austin Art Education MA program with an emphasis in Museum Studies.
  • Matthew Trudel, 2017 Studio Art BFA, has been accepted to both Momentum OKC, AND Momentum Ada (which emphasizes New Media).

Congratulations to graduating BFA in graphic design students Paul Nichols, Molly Richardson, and David Lim, whose capstone projects were semi-finalists in the 2017 International Adobe Design Achievement Awards.

Congratulations to the seven OSU students who won Addy Awards in 2017 (“The American Advertising Awards, also known as the ADDY Awards, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 40,000 entries every year in local American Advertising Federation Club (Ad Club) competitions.”)
