Ting Wang-Hedges was born in Chengdu, China where she grew up with rigorous training in Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Ink Painting, having published works in newspapers and albums in China at a young age. After receiving her BFA in graphic design from Sichuan Normal University, Wang-Hedges moved to the United States and attained her MFA in graphic design from Kansas State University. Wang-Hedges has taught all levels of graphic design courses at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith before joining Oklahoma State University.

She is interested in using programming code to computationally re-imagine the shape and content of type. She is also interested in how map and information design can be used to convey different types of information, specifically in the cultural gaps between Chinese and U.S. societies. Besides her digital work, Wang-Hedges also enjoys working with her hands in the disciplines of calligraphy, paper folding, and book arts.

Her recent generative typography has been published in Graphis-Typography 4 as Silver in the "Type in Use" category and Merit in the "Typeface Design" category. It has also been published on the Creative Quarterly CQ51 online gallery as runner-up in Professional Graphic Design. Her logo and branding work has also won the Regional Gold Addy 2018 and Bronze in International Visual Identity Awards.
