Ann Dawkins, MFA
Ann Dawkins received her MFA in Painting from Southern Illinois
University Carbondale in 2019 and her BFA in Painting from the
University of Louisville in 2013. At SIUC she taught as an Instructor for
Foundations 2D Studio, Intro to Drawing, Beginning Figure Drawing,
and Intermediate 2D Studio Drawing.
In her studio work she incorporates multiple mediums including:
drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Currently, she uses thick
paint to describe the visceral and fleshy qualities of fruit as a
representation of the transient and uncontrollable physicality of the
Her research has received recognition in the form of a grant from
the Windgate Charitable Foundation in 2018 and as the recipient of an
Artist Enrichment Grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women in
2015. She recently had a solo exhibition entitled “The Rotten Ones” at
the Surplus Gallery in Carbondale, IL.
