For her final project in ART 4713: The Visual Culture of the Islamic World, Graphic Design and Marketing major Taylor Anthony created this gorgeous illuminated page inspired by her research into 14th-century Mamluk Qur’an frontispieces. She used Adobe Illustrator to create the design, and then transferred it and did all the work by hand. Her final project included a paper detailing the process the process and a presentation for her classmates featuring step-by-step images. The final painting was small, measuring just 7.5 x 9.5 inches. Taylor’s excellent work demonstrates the possibilities of choosing a creative option for the final project in this course.
